ABOUT YOU
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be a motivated and reliable individual with a keen eye for detail and an interest in laboratory work. You may be at the early stages of your career or looking to gain hands-on experience in a technical environment.
You will be working as part of the Hardlines laboratory team, supporting the testing of consumer products such as toys, electrical accessories, furniture, DIY tools, and kitchenware.
We recognise potential and attitude, and this role offers the opportunity to learn, develop and build your experience within a supportive team.
Required skills and experience:
1. Basic IT skills, including MS Word and Excel
2. Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
3. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage your workload
4. Good communication skills, both written and verbal
5. Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment
6. A proactive and positive approach to work
7. A good general standard of education, including Science, English and Maths
8. An interest in laboratory work or testing environments
9. Previous laboratory or hands-on experience (beneficial but not essential)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
On a daily basis, you will support testing activities in line with customer requirements and company procedures within the Hardlines laboratory.
You will work alongside experienced colleagues who will support your development, helping you build your skills and confidence in a practical laboratory setting.
Key activities:
10. Carry out testing in line with established procedures and standards
11. Ensure work is completed accurately and recorded correctly
12. Support the handling and organisation of samples, including booking in and labelling
13. Assist with routine equipment checks and general laboratory tasks
14. Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
15. Work closely with colleagues to ensure deadlines are met
16. Communicate clearly within the team and support where required
17. Take a proactive approach to learning and developing new skills
