We are a respected and expanding main contractor operating across a wide range of sectors. With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, we are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with extensive main‑contracting experience and a proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and help drive operational performance across the business.
Overview
The Contracts Manager will oversee multiple projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a central role in coordinating construction activities, managing stakeholders, and driving efficient project delivery across a number of live sites.
This position requires robust leadership, excellent organisational skills, commercial awareness, and a comprehensive understanding of construction operations.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the full construction process across multiple concurrent projects.
* Develop detailed programmes using Microsoft Project and other planning tools
* Provide strong leadership, guidance, and motivation to site teams.
* Monitor project progress, identifying risks and implementing corrective measures when required.
* Ensure consistent delivery against time, cost, and quality expectations.
* Act as the key point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and consultants.
* Maintain strong working relationships and ensure clear communication of project objectives.
* Support business-wide operational improvements and best‑practice initiatives.
* Ensure all works meet health & safety legislation and industry standards.
* Prepare accurate reports, updates, and documentation using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Maintain meticulous project records including schedules, budgets, and contractual information.
Requirements
* Proven Contracts Manager experience within the construction industry, ideally with a main contractor.
* Strong track record of delivering multi‑site or large‑scale construction projects.
* Excellent negotiation and commercial management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Project with advanced MS Office abilities.
* Highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
* Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
* Deep understanding of construction processes, H&S regulations, and best‑practice methodologies.
* Effective communication and relationship‑building skills at all levels.
* Valid driving licence for site visits and meetings.
* High level of IT literacy, especially with construction management tools.
Additional Information
* Location will vary depending on the job. Our sites are primarily based across London and East Anglia, so flexibility and willingness to travel within these areas is essential.
