Role: Finance Coordinator
Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,720 and £29,870 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Finance Coordinator to join our Finance department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Finance Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
1. Income Processing & Reconciliation – Lead on one key income stream (Direct Debits, Student Loans, or Employer Billing), ensuring timely processing, reconciliation, and reporting to maximise income and remove payment barriers.
2. Debt Recovery & Credit Control – Manage invoicing, reminders, and debt collection processes; liaise with customers, prepare cases for debt recovery, and recommend write-offs where appropriate.
3. Collaboration & Customer Service – Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve issues, deliver training, and ensure a professional, efficient customer experience.
4. Financial Administration & Reporting – Maintain accurate records, reconcile control accounts, support year-end processes, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements.
5. College-Wide Support & Compliance – Assist with bursary processing, enrolment, and events; uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards; and engage in ongoing training and development.
About you:
6. Qualifications & Professional Development – Holds a Level 3 qualification in finance or a numerate discipline, GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, with recent CPD and customer service training.
7. Technical & Analytical Skills – Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, experienced in data management, reporting, reconciliations, and applying complex rules to financial data with accuracy and timeliness.
8. Customer Service & Communication – Skilled in resolving complex queries in a customer-focused environment, with strong written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to high-quality service.
9. Compliance & Process Improvement – Demonstrates understanding of financial regulations, risk mitigation, and ethical finance practices, with the ability to influence compliance and improve systems and controls.
10. Professionalism & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality, and continuous improvement; adaptable, team-oriented, and willing to travel across sites and support additional functions like cashiering when needed.
