Financial Reporting SO Accountant
Location: Newforge Lane
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £ per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Staff Officer Accountant to join a busy Finance Branch within a public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services, supporting governance, and contributing to strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, auditors, and operational stakeholders to ensure robust financial management and compliance with public sector accounting requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist the Premises Officer with:
1. Preparation of Annual Reports and Accounts in line with HM Treasury and Department of Finance guidance, incorporating IFRS standards
2. Liaising with internal and external auditors, including the Northern Ireland Audit Office
3. Analysis and interpretation of complex financial data
4. Production of monthly and quarterly management accounts and financial performance reports
5. Providing professional advice and guidance on financial information, accounting standards, and best practice
6. Drafting, reviewing, and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
7. Oversight and management of financial processing functions
8. Line management of staff and effective allocation of resources
9. Promoting strong corporate governance and financial accountability across the organisation

Essential Criteria
Have successfully passed the final professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the professional bodies detailed below:
(a) Chartered Accountants Ireland;
(b) The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
(c) The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
(d) The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
(e) The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
(f) The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;
(g) The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.
AND
Have one year's experience gained in the last five years, in in one or more of the following areas:
10. Financial planning and budgeting;
OR
11. Financial Management / Management Accounting;
OR
12. Financial Accounting/Auditing;
OR
13. Development/ Implementation of Financial Systems;
OR
14. Strategic planning and decision support in a finance or regulatory environment.
