Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 + Bonus and Benefits
About the Opportunity
Stanton House is currently working with a large, fast‑growing organisation that has scaled significantly over recent years through organic growth and multiple systems implementations. They are looking to bring in a head of data who will be responsible for taking ownership of the organisation’s data function. The role will inherit a small existing data and reporting team and will be accountable for assessing the current data landscape, stabilising it, and defining a clear and pragmatic data strategy.
The successful candidate will be expected to both deliver personally and shape the longer‑term vision, balancing immediate operational needs with foundational improvements in governance, architecture, and capability.
Key Responsibilities
* Take ownership of the data function, including leadership of a small data and reporting team
* Rapidly assess the current data landscape, tools, integrations, and reporting setup
* Improve data quality, structure, and reliability across multiple systems
* Address system‑of‑record and interconnectivity issues
* Introduce data governance, standards, documentation, and access controls
* Define and deliver a practical data strategy covering architecture, tooling, and people
* Support the move toward a more centralised data setup (e.g. data warehouse or data lake), where appropriate
* Ensure data solutions are scalable, governed, and not dependent on individual knowledge
* Act as a senior stakeholder for data across the business
Skills & Experience Required
Experience
* Approximately 5 experience in data, analytics, or BI roles
* Experience working in low‑maturity or transitioning data environments
* Proven ability to combine hands‑on delivery with strategic thinking
* Some experience leading or mentoring small teams (formal Head of Data experience not required)
Technical & Professional Skills
* Strong experience with Power BI
* Understanding of data structures, schemas, and systems of record
* Working knowledge of SQL and Python (coding not essential)
* Experience with Power Automate or similar tools
* Understanding of APIs and system integrations
* Knowledge of data warehousing or data lake concepts
* Experience with data governance, compliance, and data protection (e.g. GDPR)
