Job Purpose: To manage and oversee the engineering stores function, ensuring the availability of critical spare parts, consumables, and tools to support maintenance and engineering operations. The role ensures stock accuracy, cost control, supplier management, and compliance with health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: · Stores Management: · Maintain accurate inventory of engineering spares, tools, and consumables. · Implement and manage stock control systems (e.g., CMMS, ERP). · Ensure timely ordering and replenishment of stock to avoid downtime. · Organize and maintain stores layout for efficient access and safety. · Procurement & Supplier Liaison: · Source and negotiate with suppliers for best value and lead times. · Raise purchase orders and track deliveries. · Build strong relationships with key vendors and service providers. · Team Leadership (if applicable): · Supervise stores personnel and delegate tasks effectively. · Provide training and development opportunities. · Monitor performance and ensure adherence to procedures. · Compliance & Safety: · Ensure stores operations comply with company policies and H&S regulations. · Conduct regular audits and risk assessments. · Manage disposal of obsolete or hazardous materials appropriately. · Continuous Improvement: · Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency. · Support engineering projects with timely parts availability. · Collaborate with maintenance planners and engineers to forecast demand. Requirements Skills & Experience Required: · Proven experience in engineering stores or inventory management. · Familiarity with maintenance systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo, or similar CMMS). · Strong organizational and communication skills. · Knowledge of mechanical/electrical components and industrial supplies. · Ability to interpret technical drawings and part specifications. · Forklift license or manual handling training (desirable). · Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment (preferred). Qualifications: · NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field. · IOSH or equivalent H&S certification (advantageous). · IT proficiency (Excel, inventory software, ERP systems).
