We are looking for someone with an electrical background to join our Highways Service.
The Team:
The Electrical Engineering Group is part of the Highway Operations section of the Highways and Transportation Service. The team manages over 63,000 street lighting columns and 8,000 illuminated traffic signs, along with delivering the Council’s energy reduction programme.
We are a highly regarded team with a strong environmental focus. Our achievements include winning the National Green Apple Reward, Bronze Green Apple Award, NHT Improving Public Satisfaction, the Excellent Service Award for the LED replacement programme, and an honorable mention in the Council’s efficiencies awards.
The Role:
This opportunity allows you to work as an electrician inspector supporting the Highways Electrical Engineering team in managing electrical assets. It offers the chance to learn about traffic management projects on all types of highways and to broaden your knowledge in highway engineering and emerging technologies such as EV Charging.
We welcome applicants from Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Richmond, Harrogate, Selby, Skipton, and throughout the county.
What you will bring…
Your role is crucial in delivering Highway Electrical services and is often the most visible team member for the public. Excellent communication and customer care skills are essential.
To be successful you will have:
* Knowledge and appreciation of electrical hazards
* Understanding of the current IEE Wiring Regulations
* Knowledge of cable testing
* Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
Location: You can be based anywhere in the county, with your area allocated accordingly.
