Server Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the HealthInformatics team supporting the day to day activties as a Server Specialist, providingsystem implementation, maintenance, monitoring and performance management ofTrust infrastructure to ensure optimum performance and availability.
The post holder will maintain the operational capability ofTrust IT infrastructure including physical and virtual server environmentstogether with providing BAU support for server applications in terms of thirdlevel technician support and be willing to learn new and emerging technologies.
Liaising with other teams within the department as requiredon technical issues, and with third party customer organisations.
Participate in the ICT on-call cover rotas asnecessary.
Main duties of the job
Implementationand system management of IT Systems within the Trust
Supportthe development of the Trusts strategic approach to IT infrastructure
Provideand participate on 3rd line support cover for escalated IT support calls
Providehardware and software server support for Corporate/Business and Clinical ITsystems
Implementationand ongoing development of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
Act as aninterface between Infrastructure Support Team to diagnose and aid the resolution
Managementand support of disaster recovery and backup management procedures
Ensuresecurity patches and updates are installed across the IT Estate
Monitoringof computer room and data centre facilities
Technicalproject management and implementation of IT systems
Provideexpert professional and technical advice and consultancy
Ensurethat server hardware, operating systems and applications are repaired in a suitabletimescale and to a satisfactory standard.
Participatein the out of hours oncall rota.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities
Design, implementation and management of IT serverinfrastructure within the Trust
Support the development of the Trusts strategic approachto IT infrastructure
Maintain computer room and data centre facilities
Implementation and management of corporate, departmentaland clinical IT systems
Provide of 3rd line and Server Support
Support of departmental and non-clinical IT systemssupport
Plan and manage the deployment of Trust wide projects
Support interfaces between the server team andInfrastructure support team
Develop and implement standards, policies and proceduresfor use with Health Informatics
Developments and management of business continuityservices and disaster recovery provision.
Where required, develop and plan for any changes torequirements surrounding training, new work, changing practices etc.
Produce complex ad-hoc reports for all levels of Truststaff and external suppliers, where necessary adapt or provide new methods ofinterrogation and when requested provide an analysis at the required level.
Ensure that ICT system, equipment and network faults arerepaired in a suitable timescale and to a satisfactory standard.
Assist in the testing and development of ICT systems andwhere necessary suggest new designs and solutions etc.
Technical project management and implementation of ITsystems
Provide expert professional and technicaladvice and consultancy to all staff user base.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience in the provision of a complex
* datacentre and server environments, 3rd line support experience, using a number of different and interconnected technologies. Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Server technologies, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange and Certificate Management. Detailed knowledge of VMware environments and SAN technologies.
* Specialist technical knowledge of
* best practice in the field of
* Information and Communications
* Technologies
Special Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of
* server hardware and software tools,
* Experience in design installation and
* commissioning of highly complex data server systems.
* Wide experience of health service operations and health informatics.
* Prince 2 Project management
* experience.
* Experienced in the use of highly
* complex analysis and test equipment
* and the interpretation of the outputs
* from this equipment.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* qualifications or experience in relevant
* subjects and fields, with at least 5 years
* supporting and managing ICT
* Detailed technical knowledge of best
* practice in the field of Information and
* Communications Technologies.
* Relevant industry standard
* qualifications.
* ITIL Awareness or certification.
Special Requirements
* Ability to travel between sites as required and participate in the team out of hours oncall rota.
