Our client is a highly successful import and distribution company, supplying big-name retailers and a booming online customer base across the globe. With impressive growth and a dynamic team, they're now looking for a confident and experienced HR & Payroll Advisor to take the reins of all things people-related from their Stockport Head Office.
The Role: HR & Payroll Advisor (Standalone)
You'll play a pivotal role in managing end-to-end HR operations and payroll for around 50 employees. Reporting to the overseas HR Manager, you'll be the go-to expert on-site — offering trusted HR advice, running monthly payroll, supporting recruitment, employee relations, and driving compliance in a fast-paced, ever-evolving business.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage Monthly Payroll via Payscape
Draft and manage contracts, onboarding, and HR change notices
Drive compliance with HR legislation and internal policies
Support managers with recruitment, interviews & onboarding
Own employee relations: disciplinaries, RTWs, appraisals, etc.
Coordinate time & attendance, holiday records, and reporting
Deliver training needs analysis and support performance reviews
Liaise with legal HR support & HMRC to ensure best practice
Be the face of HR – approachable, reliable, and proactive
What You'll Need:
Minimum 3 years' experience in HR & payroll (standalone or small team)
CIPD Level 3 (minimum)
Solid knowledge of employment law, policies, and compliance
Experience in import/distribution, ecommerce, or FMCG
Super-organised, detail-focused, and calm under pressure
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A diplomatic, professional and mature approach to sensitive matters
IT savvy – confident with Excel, HR systems and reporting tools
