Orpington Ojays Swimming Club, based in the south-east London/Kent borders,is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Squad Coach. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to coach swimmers of all ages and abilities, motivating them to reach their maximum potential, from development to competitive levels.

The Squad Coach should have experience as a coach of a competitive development squad, including planning and development, and setting performance targets.

Our coaches deliver progressive training plans and set goals to engage the swimmers and develop their talent. We also ask that they attend regular coaches’ meetings to ensure consistency in training techniques and methods. Coaches also work with the Head Coach to identify which open and league galas the club’s swimmers should enter each season.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive club, and as such, we want coaches who can nurture the talent of all our swimmers. We’re looking for someone who wants to invest time and energy into the young swimmers and reap the rewards as they grow in confidence and as athletes, giving them a clear pathway of progression and keeping the club as successful as it can be as older swimmers move on.

You will be a good communicator, equally at ease speaking to swimmers of all levels, parents, other coaches, and the committee.

About the club:

Orpington Ojays is a well-established, family-oriented club with more than 350 members comprising seven competitive squads, four development squads, learn-to-swim classes, and a competitive masters squad. With a track record of success at county, regional, and national levels, we pride ourselves on nurturing swimmers of all abilities, helping them to achieve their full potential. We hold club championships and have a full competition calendar, attending galas and leagues within the county and the London region.

We are currently using a variety of local facilities for training - we will be returning to our home pool, which will be a state-of-the-art facility, in early 2026. Therefore, the use of a car and a driving licence is essential.
