Job Details
The Older Adult service in Oxfordshire is divided into three localities. The advertised post is part of the North and West Oxfordshire locality.
The North and West Oxfordshire CMHT provides mental health services to those aged over 65 living in the North and West of the county. The team operates from team bases in Banbury and Witney. The main centres of population in the team's catchment area are Banbury, Witney and Chipping Norton, but there is also a large rural population and numerous villages.
The post holder will provide mental health services to GP practices in and around Banbury (including Brackley and Deddington).
The team offers assessment and treatment of patients over the age of 65 with functional and organic mental illnesses. Diagnosis of dementia takes place in Memory Clinics with the support of dedicated non-medical staff. Patients with behavioural or psychiatric complications of dementia are managed within the general CMHT. There is a CMHT duty team each day, working from the Oxford team base, to coordinate the team's response to referrals and to manage urgent clinical matters, liaising with medical staff.
The North and West CMHT is a supportive, flexible, dynamic, and well-integrated multidisciplinary team which is a busy but very rewarding place to work. The team is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of care for its patients.
