Pay Supplement:
The base salary for this role is £46,677 – £54,957. This job qualifies for Digital, Data and Technology Annual Pay supplement 8% is included in the total remuneration.
Pension
: 28.97% of base salary (RoS contribution)
Annual Leave:
38 days annual holiday, increasing to 42 days with length of service.
Duration
: Permanent
Working Pattern
: 35 hours per week. We are a flexible employer and will consider a variety of working patterns.
Location
: Hybrid working model. Contractual base either at Meadowbank House, Edinburgh, or St Vincent Plaza, Glasgow. You will be expected to attend one of these locations as required by the role.

The Role
Are you passionate about designing services that truly meet user needs? Join us at RoS as a Senior User Researcher, where you'll play a key role in shaping customer and colleague-centred services that make a real difference. In this strategic role, you'll:
* Lead user research across complex services, aligning insights with broader service propositions and organisational goals.
* Mentor and support fellow UX professionals, championing best practices and continuous improvement.
* Help grow a thriving UX community—within RoS and across the wider public sector.
* Deliver meaningful, evidence-based improvements through high-quality research and collaboration.

On a typical day you will…
* Be involved in ensuring that service touchpoints during a customer or colleagues' lifetime with RoS are part of a coherent, consistent experience
* Conduct exploratory user research to identify customer needs
* Ensure that usability research is undertaken frequently with appropriate users as part of the development cycle
* Create low to high fidelity prototypes based on existing design patterns that bring the research to life
* Deliver UX feedback to Agile delivery teams to compliment sprint cycles
* Work as part of a multi-disciplined team to design user focussed and successful services by consolidating, building on existing knowledge, desk research and data analysis
