Role Overview
As our Construction Manager, you will work within Water and Water Recycling Non-Infrastructure to manage health, safety, environmental, and sustainability aspects, including CDM compliance for all construction activities. While primarily focused on construction delivery, you will adopt a wider pan-Alliance perspective, demonstrating appropriate behaviours and leadership within integrated teams.
You will manage your local construction delivery team to ensure all activities meet scheme deliverables, fostering a culture of zero accidents and zero defects to meet our milestones and provide excellent service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Site Manager and their team across a large portfolio to deliver projects within budget and schedule; facilitate project kick-off meetings and conduct health checks.
* Oversee the performance of tier 2 suppliers regarding safety, time, and quality, including approving RAMS to ensure adequacy.
* Lead constructability reviews, project rehearsals, and fit-for-assembly sign-offs to drive performance and innovation.
* Promote zero waste and reduce embodied carbon in construction activities.
* Ensure timely contractual and commercial notices are raised by site teams.
* Collaborate with the Lead Construction Manager to determine resource needs (labour, plant, materials).
* Ensure full H&S compliance, fostering a safe environment where team members feel confident to raise concerns.
* Implement standard and innovative construction techniques to maintain industry leadership.
Skills, Experience, and Behaviours
You should have extensive experience in Construction Management, with proven ability to manage operational resources in a fast-paced environment. An HNC/Degree in Civil or Construction Management is required, along with experience in large structures within the water industry.
Holding a Site Management Safety Training Scheme and a Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme certification, and a CSCS Card (minimum Black), you will demonstrate high safety standards. Your leadership skills will inspire and support teams to achieve critical tasks, with a proactive, hands-on approach when needed. Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder groups are essential.
