Job Title: Tutor for SEN & Alternative Provision Students Location: Flexible (In-person / Community-based / Home tuition) Hours: Part-time / Flexible Pay: Competitive, based on experience About the Role We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated tutors to work with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or have been excluded or disengaged from mainstream education. Many of our learners require a patient, trauma-informed approach and benefit from 1:1 or small-group tuition tailored to their individual needs. This role is ideal for someone who believes in second chances and is committed to helping young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging, personalised tuition sessions (1:1 or small group) Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs Support students with emotional regulation, confidence, and motivation Work in line with EHCPs, behaviour plans, and individual learning plans Maintain clear session records and provide feedback on progress Build positive, trusting relationships with students and families Who We're Looking For Experience working with SEN students and/or students excluded from school Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning Strong communication and relationship-building skills Ability to adapt lessons creatively and flexibly Understanding of trauma-informed or restorative practice (desirable) Essential Requirements Relevant tutoring, teaching, youth work, or SEN experience Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) Right to work in the UK Reliability and professionalism Desirable (but not essential) Teaching qualification or SEN-specific training Experience in alternative provision, PRUs, or SEMH settings Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or anxiety-related needs What We Offer Flexible working hours to suit your availability Supportive team and ongoing guidance Meaningful work that makes a real difference Opportunities for training and development How to Apply If you are passionate about supporting vulnerable learners and helping them succeed outside of mainstream education, we would love to hear from you please give us a call (phone number removed) or email (url removed)
