We are supporting our historic manufacturing client in their recruitment for a machine shop operator. Ideally you will have some machining background. You will be required to assist with machining centrifugally spun castings for the Aerospace and Power Generation industries, in a range of stainless alloys.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Assist with the machining large castings to drawings and to tolerance specified
* Ensure production is carried out to meet time frames set.
* Visual inspection of machined castings.
* Marking up of swarf drums (alloy identification).
* To work as part of a team with minimum supervision.
The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and translate these into producing dimensionally correct components.
* High attention to detail
* An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Able to operate on your own initiative, but also able to contribute in a team environment.
* Flexible attitude towards work and overtime, including shift working.
* A good understanding of health & safety, environmental issues and quality rules.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
