Contracts Manager – Groundworks
Location: Bristol
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Circa £90,000 + Package
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager with residential groundworks and/or civil engineering experience to join a successful, long-standing regional subcontractor. You will manage residential sites across Dorset, North Somerset & Bristol.

Reporting directly to the Construction Director, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overall management of designated sites, ensuring health & safety compliance at all times
2. Manage site teams, direct labour, and subcontractors
3. Ensure all plant and materials are fit for purpose
4. Ensure PPE and on-site HSE requirements are in place
5. Implement short- and long-term programmes to deliver sites on time
6. Liaise with internal and external Health & Safety consultants, advisors, and auditors
7. Regular client liaison, progress updates, and attendance at meetings
8. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
9. Work closely with commercial and technical teams
10. Source and recruit site teams and labour
11. Oversee ongoing training and HR matters
Requirements
12. Proven experience at Contracts Manager level within residential groundworks
13. Strong knowledge of programming and planning
14. Excellent health & safety management knowledge, including RAMS and COSHH
15. SMSTS qualification (essential)
16. Strong commercial and financial understanding
17. Full UK driving licence (sites across Bristol, Dorset & North Somerset)
Package
18. Salary in the region of £80,000–£90,000, dependent on experience
19. Company vehicle or car allowance
