Northern Trust - Finance Officer - Ballymena or Antrim
Support the day-to-day operations of the Financial Accounts team in a Finance Officer role based in Ballymena or Antrim. This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in cash handling, accounts management, and financial administration within Health and Social Care.
About the role:
* £12.31 per hour
* Location: Either Antrim Hospital Cash Office, or Finance Department, Greenmount House, Ballymena
* Monday - Friday (9:00am - 5:00pm)
* 37.5 hours a week
* Duration: 3 months

What you'll be doing in this role:
* Assist with ensuring petty cash floats, and controls, are properly maintained and that all associated records are up to date and accurately recorded.
* Assist with ensuring the maintenance of Catering Department floats including maintaining sufficient levels of cash flow to meet need.
* Assist to ensure proper payment of patient’s travel expenses including liaison with the Department for Communities and other hospital departments to ascertain entitlement and adherence of financial controls.
* Assist to ensure the proper maintenance of the Safe Register including recording of all property and cash held.
* Assist with ensuring that adequate stocks of stationery, in particular, controlled stationery, are held and monitor the issue of it to users.
* Check and certify remittance advice forms which relate to manual cheque payments.
* Process correspondence relating to discharged/deceased clients in an efficient manner.
* Liaise with external bodies such as Office of Care and Protection, banks, post offices, benefit agencies, housing bodies and internal staff such as social workers and nursing staff in relation to client’s financial affairs.
What you'll need for this role:
* Demonstrate 1 years experience working in any finance area including receipting cash, processing payments, cash office, accounts payable/receivable, financial management (budget reports), financial accounting (ledgers, account reconciliations) and costing.
* Minimum of AS level in Business/Finance subject or equivalent (QCF Level 3).
* Ability to analyse financial information and communicate subsequent evaluation.
* Knowledge and understanding of the key finance issues within Health and Social Care.
* Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment (This will be waived for applicants who have a disability which prohibits driving but who have access to a from of transport provided by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post
* Appointment will be subject to a successful pre-employment health assessment.
