Offer description

Supply Planner (12‑Month Fixed Term Contract – Maternity Cover)

Hybrid – Handforth, Cheshire (2 days per week in the office)

At Pets at Home, we’re here to make life better for pets and the people who love them.
And behind every product on our shelves — in-store or online — there’s a team working hard to make sure it arrives in the right place, at the right time.

We’re looking for a Supply Planner to join us on a 12‑month maternity cover contract and help ensure our customers never miss out on the products they rely on. If you love problem‑solving, building great relationships, and improving how things work, you’ll feel right at home here.

About the role

In this role, you’ll manage the full stock lifecycle — from new product launches to end‑of‑life transitions — making sure we have what we need to meet customer demand. You’ll work closely with suppliers, distribution centres, and internal teams, keeping everything moving smoothly and efficiently across our supply chain.

It’s a role where you’ll make a real impact every day, helping us deliver for pets and the people who care about them.

What you’ll be responsible for

* Managing inventory levels across the supply chain so products are available when customers need them, without unnecessary stockholding.
* Monitoring promotional performance and adjusting supply plans — plus sharing recommendations for future activity.
* Owning forecasting accuracy, spotting trends, and course‑correcting plans based on trading patterns, seasonality, and demand shifts.
* Supporting new product launches and range reviews, ensuring the right stock levels land at the right time.
* Building collaborative, trust‑based relationships with suppliers to improve service levels, lead times, and responsiveness.
* Tracking supplier performance through key KPIs (including OTIF and fill rates) and holding suppliers to agreed standards.
* Taking part in S&OP processes and supply reviews, ensuring production plans align with retail needs — across both short and long lead time products.
* Supporting supplier development initiatives, such as improving packaging efficiency, consolidating shipments, or exploring direct‑to‑store models.
* Working closely with our distribution centres to improve inbound flow and reduce friction.

About you

This role would suit someone who’s naturally curious, organised, and excited by the idea of making supply chains run better. You’ll enjoy digging into data, solving problems, and working with a wide range of people.

You’ll bring:

* Experience in supply planning, demand forecasting, or inventory management within retail, FMCG, or consumer goods.
* A solid understanding of supply chain planning principles.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills — you enjoy finding root causes and fixing them.
* Brilliant communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
* A proactive, solutions‑led approach and comfort working in a fast‑paced environment.
* Confidence juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP or planning systems (Relex experience is a real bonus!).

Why join us?

Because you’ll be part of a team that genuinely cares — about pets, customers, and each other.
You’ll be supported, trusted, and encouraged to bring your ideas forward as we continuously improve how our supply chain works.

We take our inspiration from pets in embracing people from all walks of life, and we value, respect and celebrate difference. We encourage our people to be their best selves so that we can create a better world for Pets, our Planet and People. Our ambition is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and we are intentional in addressing and removing barriers to create opportunities for the exceptional talent and potential in our communities. Even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
