Position: Senior In-House Solicitor, Planning & Infrastructure
Salary Guide: Up to £95,000 per annum, plus bonus and benefits
Candidate Location: Excellent hybrid working on offer - candidates will be consider who are located within the South East of England (ideally East Anglia, Home Counties, East Midlands and London areas)
Unique In-House Opportunity for a Senior Planning Solicitor!
We have been instructed on an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Solicitor for a new In-House role within the private sector for an infrastructure organisation. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal legal role in delivering on a major long standing project. At the current planning stage, this position is critical to supporting the organisation’s major infrastructure projects, including statutory consents, planning strategy, and compulsory acquisition.
The Role
* Development Consent Orders (DCOs) under the Planning Act 2008 for major infrastructure projects.
* Planning permissions under the Town & Country Planning Act 1990, including appeals and inquiries.
* Environmental and regulatory consents, including EIA, HRA,, Environmental Permitting, Water Abstraction licensing, and Wildlife and Countryside Act compliance.
* Related planning legal agreements, including s106 agreements, discharge of planning conditions, and highway law matters.
You will also:
* Advise and train senior internal stakeholders, including project directors and managers.
* Manage and instruct external legal advisors and counsel efficiently.
* Support the Major Infrastructure Team in delivering safe, compliant, and successful projects.
Candidate Profile
Experience and Qualifications:
* Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 10+ years PQE in planning law, ideally including major infrastructure projects.
* Significant experience in advocacy and drafting.
* Either an In-House or Private Practice background supporting on planning and/or infrastructure projects.
Skills and Competencies:
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly interpret complex statutory and regulatory frameworks.
* Commercially minded, practical, and solutions focused.
* Flexible, collaborative, and a strong team player.
* IT literate
