Job Summary
Overview of duties includes Phlebotomy, Blood Pressure & ECGs, and additional clinical duties such as B12 injections, Flu Vaccinations, Dressings, Removal of Clips/Sutures, Diabetic Foot Checks & NHS Health Checks. The post holder will assist medical personnel in the care of patients and work under the supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse in accordance with practice guidelines and protocols.
Responsibilities
* Obtain patient consent for any procedure undertaken
* Treatment and Preventative Care
* Screening and Patient Education
* Perform duties as requested by the clinical team and undertake administrative duties as deemed suitable by Partners
* Full training of the clinical system will be provided prior to patient contact
* Maintain a safe and effective level of practice and report any training deficits to the Lead Practice Nurse
* Wear a uniform and name badge provided by the Practice; adhere to Practice policies, protocols and guidelines
* Chaperoning duties
* Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
* Order medical supplies when requested by clinicians; clear and restock treatment rooms; maintenance of surgical equipment
* Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothly and sharps bins are ready for collection
* Display and order Health Promotional materials
* Record heights, weights, urine and blood pressures as required
* New Patient Health Checks and seasonal projects (e.g., Flu campaign)
* Assist doctors and nurses with minor surgical procedures as required
Qualifications and Skills
* Essential: Experience of working in General Practice; Must have Phlebotomy qualifications
* Desirable: Knowledge of QoF and GMS Contracts
* Proficient in the use of Emis, Docman and ICE
* Excellent communication skills; ability to work without direct supervision; flexible working hours
* Understanding of strict confidentiality and awareness of own limitations
Training, Accountability & Administration
Previous evidence of skills is essential; further clinical system training will be provided in house. Applicants are accountable to the Partners through the Practice Manager and must ensure proper practice of clinical procedures. All patient contacts and procedures must be entered onto the computer accurately. Stock control, instrument sterilisation records, and audits may be required.
Health & Safety

* Report accidents and untoward incidents in accordance with current legislation and Practice procedures
General
Basic IT within the Practice; basic knowledge of Word and Excel. The Job Description may be revised to reflect changing circumstances and other duties of a similar nature may be assigned.
About Us
We are looking for a 30 hours per week GP Surgery HCA/NA to join our team at The Dow Surgery, Redditch, on Thursdays and Fridays. The surgery is located in Redditch Town Centre with good transport links.
Team & Benefits
