Job overview

The post holder is a member of a multidisciplinary team developing the use of hepatocyte transplantation in children with liver-based metabolic disorders. They will be based at the Institute of Liver Studies laboratories within the Cheyne Wing at King's College Hospital.

The post holder shall work on a research project which aims to explore the immunomodulatory and regenerative potential of MSCs, with the goal of developing advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) for clinical translation.


Main duties of the job

* Conduct independent research into the immunomodulatory effects and therapeutic mechanisms of MSCs in biliary atresia models.
* Employ a range of cellular and molecular techniques, including flow cytometry, ELISA, and advanced microscopy.
* Collaborate closely with other researchers within the Hepatocyte Biology and Transplantation Group and with clinical partners.
* Present work at weekly research meetings and contribute to publications, grant applications, and conference presentations.
* Support junior researchers and students, providing scientific advice and training where appropriate.
* Participate in GMP-compliant cell isolation and processing where required.
* Engage with the broader scientific and clinical community through lectures, seminars, and journal clubs.

Person specification

Qualifications


Essential criteria

* PhD in Cell Biology/ Immunology or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience with cell-based assays, immunoassays (e.g. ELISA), and flow cytometry and cell therapy research, ideally with MSC biology or translational applications.


Desirable criteria

* in GMP-compliant cell isolation and processing where required
