Job summary
Are you a Speech and Language Therapist with experience in working with children and young people with complex SLCN, and/or eating, drinking and swallowing needs associated with their learning and/or physical or health needs we would love to hear from you.
Help shape the delivery of the service, work with parents and partners to agree key performance and quality indicators and to measure our progress towards the targets we set. Clinical leadership within early years complex needs, special schools and outreach teams includes opportunities to develop care pathways, consider the evidence base, measure clinical outcomes, participate in quality improvement, audit, and research. As a leader in the team, you will have the opportunity to influence wider service delivery for children, young people and their families. You will provide line management and supervisory support to some staff within the team.
The balance of the role in relation to direct clinical and leadership time will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
There are systems in place providing good professional support across Therapy Teams and the Child Development Centres. A commitment to personal development, training, including to advanced clinical practice, peer review and supervision are important. The successful applicant will need to be able to meet the travel requirements of the post across Shropshire and Telford. We welcome applications from SLTs seeking flexible working.
Main duties of the job
To provide clinical leadership for the service to Children and Young People with complex needs and associated eating, drinking and swallowing needs, and to Families, Health Professionals and Pre-School or School based staff who support them. Together with Team Leaders and other Clinical Leads within the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team and relevant Managers of Children's Services, to be responsible for issues relating to clinical practice and quality and for the performance of the team.
To develop and maintain positive relationships with Pre School and School based staff, and other relevant professionals and service managers to promote the early identification of Speech, Language and Communication Needs and the skills of the children's workforce in meeting their needs.
To provide highly specialist and high-quality assessment and intervention in Acute, Specialist and Community settings for children with complex needs including, learning, physical or sensory difficulties, and for children with eating, drinking and swallowing needs, their carers and educators
