Experienced Engine/Gearbox Vehicle Technician\n\nJob Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)\nSalary: Up to £50,000\nReports To: Workshop Manager / Lead Technician\n\nJob Summary:\n\nWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Engine + Gearbox Vehicle Technician to join our clients team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining petrol and/or diesel engine systems in a variety of vehicles - All Brands All Makes and Models. You must possess a deep understanding of engine mechanics, diagnostic tools, and manufacturer-specific technologies, along with a commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDiagnose engine-related issues using advanced diagnostic tools and technical documentation.\nTiming Belts, Timing Chains & Head Gasket replacement.\nPerform repair and maintenance on internal combustion engines, including cylinder heads, timing systems, fuel systems, turbochargers, and emissions control systems.\nConduct engine rebuilds and overhauls when necessary.\nCarry out routine servicing, including oil changes, spark plug replacement, filter changes, and coolant flushes.\nEnsure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry safety standards.\nTest vehicle systems post-repair to ensure functionality and performance.\nCommunicate technical information and repair strategies with team members and service advisors.\nMaintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.\nKeep up-to-date with evolving engine technologies, including hybrid and electric vehicle systems.\nMentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance when needed.Requirements:\n\nProven experience as an Engine Technician/Automotive Technician (5+ years preferred).\nStrong diagnostic and mechanical skills with a focus on engine systems.\nCertification from a recognized automotive training institution (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).\nFamiliarity with engine management systems and diagnostic software.\nAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.\nValid driver's license.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Desirable Qualifications:\n\nManufacturer-specific training or certifications\nExperience with performance tuning, dyno testing, or custom engine + gearbox builds.\nKnowledge of hybrid and electric propulsion systems.\nMOT tester certification (if applicable).
