Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Specialist Perinatal Service as a Clinical Lead for a fixed term of 12 months to cover maternity leave. The team is a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the effective provision of Perinatal Mental and Infant Mental Health Services to an identified caseload of women and delivering high quality, tailored interventions in maternal mental health and attachment based approaches to mothers and infants. The service has a key role in raising the profile and standards of mental health care for expectant and newly delivered mothers across universal and specialist services.

We are supportive service who offer training in perinatal mental health and a robust supervision model.

The post is to cover the Cheshire East part of our service with the base being in Macclesfield. There will be some requirement to travel to Ellesmere Port for duty and leadership cover on a rotational basis so willingness and ability to travel is essential.

We welcome applicants with a core professional qualification such as Nurses, Social Workers, Midwives, Occupational Therapists.

Main duties of the job

To oversee the provision of expert, autonomous and highly specialist clinical practice within the MDT, which supports the staff to provide the highest quality care.

The post holder will exercise advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in the delivery of clinical care. They will be responsible for delivering a high quality mental health service for service users and carers of the Specialist Perinatal service.

The post holder will play a role in assuring a healthy and happy team as part of the Trust quality strategy.

Qualifications


Essential criteria

* Relevant professional qualification - e.g Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker
* Significant evidence of post registration experience in mental health settings


Desirable criteria

* Teaching qualification


Knowledge and Expertise


Essential criteria

* Ability to identify, assess, diagnose, treat and provide management plans for those presenting with significant mental health needs including crisis
* Understanding of adult/child safeguarding issues
* Competent in the use of IT packages such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
* Demonstrate the ability to work in a highly demanding environment
* Evidence of diplomacy and negotiation skills
* Able to demonstrate imaginative and and effective use of resources


Desirable criteria

* Attachment theory and relevance to parent/infant mental health
* Competent in using databases and spreadsheets


Experience


Essential criteria

* Significant evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups
* Undertaken a leadership programme


Desirable criteria

* Experience of presentations at local, regional, national level
* Experience of providing supervision to others and experience in a leadership role
