About the Position Department of Trust (www.dotrust.co.uk) are on the lookout for an experienced Mid - Senior Developer to join our forward-thinking tech team based in Edinburgh, UK. The ideal candidate will be an expert in developing scalable web applications and services using NodeJS, React, and MongoDB. A passion for big data and experience in working with large-scale datasets will be highly regarded. This role is pivotal in driving our product development forward, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and seamless user experience. Key Responsibilities Work closely with the CTO on the development and delivery of high-quality, scalable web applications and services. Pairing with other engineers to write high quality code that’s easy to understand and maintain. Review code pull requests and provide constructive feedback. Work with big data, developing strategies for data acquisition, storage, processing, and analysis. Integrate data and design APIs for various back-end services and databases using REST. Implementing monitoring and alerting mechanisms via DataDog & logging tools. Building for security and user data privacy. We aspire for full PCI Compliance. Preferred Skills and qualifications A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in web development with an emphasis on core JavaScript Node & React skills (full stack). Familiarity with building distributed systems, for scalability, availability and performance. Strong understanding of the full web development life cycle with emphasis on protocols, latencies etc... Proficiency in code versioning tools, such as Git. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think methodically. Good communication skills and experience with sharing knowledge. Authorization to work in the UK without sponsorship. Desirable Skills Experience with cloud services (e.g., Digital Ocean). Proficiency in TypeScript. Familiarity with NOSQL databases (MongoDB).
