Developer job description

A Developer, also known as a Software Developer or Computer Programmer, is a highly skilled professional responsible for designing, installing, testing and maintaining software systems. Their role is critical as they help businesses to be more efficient and provide a better service. Developers might be involved in the creation of custom software for a specific customer or commercial software to be sold to the general public. They often work as part of a larger team, liaising with designers, analysts and other stakeholders to ensure the software meets specified requirements and solves the intended problem. Key skills for a Developer include a strong knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python or C#, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and good project management skills. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is generally required. However, significant experience and a portfolio of work can sometimes substitute for formal qualifications. As technology continues to evolve, Developers need to stay abreast of the latest developments and continually update their skills.
