Role Overview
Join us as an OpenEdge Developer and play a key role in building and supporting the systems that keep Lowell running. Youll be hands‑on designing, developing and maintaining complex OpenEdge ABL solutions, working closely with engineers, architects, DBAs and product teams to deliver robust, secure and well‑tested software in a regulated (FCA‑aligned) environment. Alongside day‑to‑day development, you will contribute to technical design discussions, help shape the longer‑term technology roadmap, and champion good engineering practices across the team. This role suits someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in structured delivery, is comfortable balancing development with problem‑solving and continuous improvement, and is happy to support critical systems as part of a 3rd line out‑of‑hours rota when needed.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience developing complex OpenEdge ABL solutions, including integrations, within a structured SDLC environment.
* Strong delivery discipline, covering documentation, testing, estimation and release processes in regulated or well‑governed settings.
* Proven ability to plan and manage multiple technical workstreams, using tools such as Azure DevOps Boards or Jira.
* Confident communicator who works effectively with developers, DBAs, analysts and business stakeholders.
* Experience (or strong interest) in PASOE, RESTful APIs, database performance tuning and operational best practice.
* No formal qualifications required, but Progress/OpenEdge training or certifications, and wider software or database engineering knowledge, are advantageous.
