Site Manager (School refurbishment)
Daniel Owen is currently recruiting an experienced and capable Site Manager to lead a school refurbishment project. This role is ideal for a driven individual with a strong background in managing works within educational environments, where safety, communication, and professionalism are critical.
Position: Site Manager
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £240.00 per day (CIS or Umbrella)
Contract Type: Freelance (6 weeks)
Start date: 21st July
You will take full responsibility for managing the delivery of the project on site, from pre-start through to completion and handover, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and compliance are consistently maintained. The project will involve internal and external refurbishment works.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Full site management responsibility including programme, logistics, and compliance
2. Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour to ensure the works progress in line with programme and specification
3. Coordinate site logistics and access while maintaining a secure and safe environment for both site workers and school staff/students
4. Chair and record site progress meetings and toolbox talks
5. Maintain daily records, site diaries, and reports for internal and client use
6. Ensure full compliance with H&S legislation, safeguarding policies and procedures
7. Manage quality assurance processes and snagging/defects close-out
8. Proactively identify and manage site risks, resolving issues promptly to avoid delays
Requirements:
9. Experience as a Site Manager, with specific experience managing school or public sector refurbishments
10. Familiarity with working under public procurement frameworks or for local authorities
11. SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
12. CSCS Black or Gold card
13. Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check - current or willingness to obtain
14. Fire Marshal / Fire Safety Awareness
15. First Aid at Work (3 days)
16. Asbestos Awareness
