Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Handyman/Woman/Maintenance professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving facilities and equipment across our premises. This role requires a proactive approach, technical expertise, and excellent customer service skills to ensure the smooth operation of our organisation's infrastructure. The successful applicant will possess a broad range of maintenance skills, including electrical, mechanical, and welding capabilities, with the ability to supervise and lead maintenance activities when required.
Responsibilities
* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery, electrical systems, and building infrastructure.
* Repair and troubleshoot issues related to electrical systems, mechanical components, and plumbing.
* Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to facilitate repairs and installations.
* Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to manage automated systems effectively.
* Perform welding tasks as needed to repair or fabricate components.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
* Supervise junior staff or contractors during maintenance projects, ensuring safety standards are adhered to.
* Provide excellent customer service by addressing maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
* Lead small teams during complex repair or installation projects, demonstrating leadership qualities.
* Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and organisational policies.
Experience
* Proven experience in general maintenance or facilities management within an industrial or commercial environment.
* Strong electrical experience with knowledge of wiring, circuit boards, and control systems.
* Mechanical knowledge including working with tools, motors, pumps, and HVAC systems.
* Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and schematics interpretation is highly desirable.
* Welding skills recognised by relevant certifications or extensive practical experience.
* Supervising or leadership experience in a maintenance setting is advantageous.
* Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-specialists.
