The Marine HR Department
The Marine HR Department is playing a critical role in ensuring that our organization have a skilled and competent workforce to support our operations. We arrange and coordinate all aspects relative to Worksite Personnel being employed, paid, appointed, joining and leaving Client Worksites, all in accordance with the company Quality Management System and associated work processes and client specific requirements. What You will Do
This position is responsible to arrange and coordinate all aspects relative to sea staff being employed, paid, appointed, joining and leaving Company vessels, all in accordance with the company Quality Management System and associated work processes and client specific requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Ensure that AESM policies and procedures are being implemented in the manning offices / crewing agents supplying crew for the Offshore fleet and that vessels are manned as per minimum safe manning requirements and manning is done according to the approved budget, as applicable
* To liaise with Clients, sea staff, vessels and travel agents for all crewing matters and to keep up to date with STCW, Flag State legislations, Industry requirements and disseminate information as required
* Ensure that the Marine Personnel Officers (MPOs), manning offices and crewing agents, are updating the crew database accurately and promptly
* Assist in preparing the crew budgets for the existing fleet, for new projects and/or as requested by the Assistant General Manager (AGM), Fleet Directors (FD) or Managing Director (MD). Also monitor the crew budgets vis-à-vis the operating expenses as applicable
* Ensure that – where applicable – the vessels are covered with a valid CBA. Maintain details of said agreements and ensure payments are made to the respective union as required
* Conduct audits of relevant manning offices and agents as and when requested by MPM
-Ensures that POs follow up the receipt of seafarer appraisal reports
-Supervise PO’s on scrutiny of wage statements, crew overtime accounts, allotments,
payments to manning agencies, payments to flag state authorities and licensing bodies and
all other crew related expenses
-Coordinates the gathering of P&I documentation
-Coordinates the briefing of senior officers who pass through the Glasgow office. Ensure that
all on-signing crew members have received the induction briefing or the pre-departure
briefing (whichever is applicable)
-Deal with crew/owners’ complaints in coordination with the MPM, FD and MD and with
suggestions made in the yearly Master’s review
-Monitor crew management agreements between AESM Glasgow and crewing agents
-To review and provide feedback for opportunities for improvement or amendments to
Marine HR Manual
* It is a requirement of a Marine HR Manager that he / she be on out of hours call to deal with any emergency issues which may arise involving seafarers’ welfare
* Promote and comply with the company’s “Safety and Environmental Policy” plus any other duties as may be reasonably required of you by the Management or Senior Management of the Company
What We Are Looking For
Education: Minimum of Five National 5 or equivalent (qualifications) including English and Mathematics or relevant experience gained in a similar role and/or environment
Experience: 5 years’ experience in marine personnel
Specific Business Knowledge: Shipping / Crewing knowledge essential for role
