Microbiology Quality Manager

A designated Microbiology Quality Manager ensures laboratory services meet safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards (UKAS ISO 15189). They maintain the QMS, manage risk, investigate incidents, drive continuous quality improvement, and provide governance oversight.
Job responsibilities
The postholder will maintain and develop the Quality Management System (QMS), including document control, audit programmes, and staff compliance with SOPs. They will lead risk management, oversee investigations of incidents and non-conformances, and ensure root‑cause analysis informs corrective and preventive actions. The Manager will drive a culture of continuous improvement, support service development aligned to Pathology redesign objectives, and provide governance oversight ensuring regulatory requirements are met and the service remains inspection‑ready.
Working Pattern
Current RDUH Laboratory opening hours are 8 am to 6 pm Monday-Friday (core hours 09:00-17:30). The role is 37.5 hours per week, including rotational Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday coverage.
