This is a rare chance to take full ownership of employment law within a local authority. Peterborough City Council is hiring its first dedicated Employment Lawyer, a brand-new role where you’ll lead from day one and influence people policy across the organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Advising on the full range of employment law issues
* Advise on complex tribunal cases
* Representing the Council in Employment Tribunals
* Working closely with HR to shape policy and reduce legal risk
* Drafting contracts, policies, settlement agreements, and guiding on investigations
* Advising on TUPE, restructures, and organisational change
* Leading on legal responses to employment-related complaints and procedures

What We’re Looking For
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEx Fellow
* Strong employment law experience, including tribunal representation
* Confidence advising senior stakeholders and presenting legal advice clearly
* A strategic, pragmatic mindset with a collaborative working style
* Interest in shaping internal policy and being a trusted go-to advisor
