Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Manager to join our team in Andover. This is a pivotal role within our Quality and Compliance department, reporting directly to the Operations Director and overseeing the Operational Quality Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability across all manufacturing operations, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
As the Quality Control Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:
Quality Management System (QMS) & Compliance: Supporting and implementing the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 guidelines.
Audits & Governance: Managing company audit plans, supporting supplier audits, and ensuring contract quality deliverables are met.
Supplier & Supply Chain Quality: Ensuring suppliers meet quality requirements and managing the flow-down of quality standards to the supply chain.
Customer & Contract Requirements: Analyzing and delivering customer contract quality requirements while building strong relationships with customer quality representatives.
Inspection, Testing & Control: Overseeing inspection and testing processes for materials and products, ensuring traceability and documentation.
Continuous Improvement: Driving initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies.
Metrics, Reporting & Board Communication: Monitoring and reporting on key quality metrics and presenting recommendations to the Board.
Culture, Training & Capability: Championing a culture of quality, providing training, and promoting accountability across the organization.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
HND or minimum Level 5 equivalent qualification in Quality Management or work-based experience.
Proven experience in a Quality Manager role within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
Familiarity with the defence sector (advantageous).
Strong understanding of quality management systems and standards.
Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and drive teams to achieve objectives.
Experience in accreditation standards, business process improvement, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Proficiency in analytical tools, particularly Excel, with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
Experience with ERP systems and quality management software tools.
Resilience, conscientiousness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Day-to-Day
Your day-to-day activities will include:
Leading and managing the Operational Quality Team to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Conducting audits, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining quality certifications.
Collaborating with suppliers and customers to ensure quality requirements are met.
Overseeing inspection and testing processes to ensure product reliability and safety.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives and reporting on quality performance to senior management.
Providing training and guidance to embed a culture of quality across the organization.
