Spinwell is recruiting for a Data Architect for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
Responsibilities of the Data Architect
The Data Architect is responsible for designing and building the Force's overall data architecture, ensuring its implementation supports the generation of information, intelligence, and insights for the Force and its partners.
This role is crucial for enabling the Force to derive value from its data, particularly for creating intelligence, conducting research and investigations, and supporting decision-making at all levels—from strategic to operational—to prevent crime, reduce anti-social behavior, and protect the public.
The Data Architect will contribute to both force and regional data strategies, promote good data architecture practices across policing, advise on data structures, and lead significant data projects aligned with the Force's priorities.
The role requires extensive knowledge of modern data tools, technologies, platforms, standards, and practices, with the ability to communicate their purpose and value to non-technical stakeholders.
Building strong relationships internally and externally, the Data Architect will participate in regional design authorities, representing the Force's interests in national data strategy and architecture.
The role holder will exemplify the Force values and adhere to the principles of the Code of Ethics, maintaining high professional standards in service to the public.
Skills and Experience
* Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience
* Proficiency in query languages such as SQL, Java, Hive, R
* Experience with Data Management technologies, e.g., ETL tools, data integration platforms
* Knowledge of data visualization tools like PowerBI, Qlik
* Proven experience as a Data Architect or Data Engineer, focusing on data architecture design and implementation using modern tools
* Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), including cloud storage and big data technologies
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop scalable solutions from complex requirements
* Ability to integrate disparate data sets for analytics
* Experience in planning, coordinating, and prioritizing workloads
* Ability to produce quality documentation and reports, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels
* Deep understanding of modern data practices, platforms, services, and data modeling techniques
* Knowledge of data security, privacy, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on data architecture
