As a Governance and Quality Manager, you'll be the driving force behind excellence.
Your mission? To ensure Bluecrest operates with the highest standards of governance, compliance, and legal integrity, while championing continuous improvement across the business.
In this pivotal role, you'll design and implement robust frameworks, policies, and processes that foster accountability, transparency, and trust. You'll work across all operational areas to embed best practice and create a culture where quality isn't just a box to tick, it's how we do things every day.

The hours
* Full time, permanent
* 37.5 hours per week
* Hybrid - 1-2 days per week in our Worthing Office (usually a Tuesday for our Governance team!)
* Monday to Friday
* 9am - 5pm/8am - 4pm
Responsibilities
Governance & Compliance
* Lead the development and maintenance of governance frameworks (CQC and ISO 9001 inclusive), ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organisational values.
* Monitor and report on compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and contractual obligations.
* Coordinate and lead internal audits.
* Consult and advise on risk assessments and assurance activities.
* Maintain accurate records of governance activities, decisions, and reporting.
Quality Assurance & Improvement
* Manage the internal quality assurance programme and ensure monitoring framework is fit for purpose.
* Lead the implementation of new management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action planning following serious incidents or audit findings.
* Actively promote a culture of learning and improvement through delivering training, workshops, and engagement.
Legal & Secretarial
* Support the organisation's legal compliance by maintaining statutory registers and books, ensuring timely filings with regulatory bodies, and monitoring changes in relevant legislation.
* Assist with the preparation and coordination of board and key meetings, including drafting agendas, minutes, and action logs.
* Deputise Company Secretary in absence of Head of Governance and Quality.
* Consulting with organisation management on contractual arrangements and requirements.
* Ensure governance documentation (e.g., terms of reference, declarations of interest, policies) is up-to-date and legally sound.
* Liaise with external legal advisors and regulatory bodies as required.
Policy & Process Development
* Draft, review, and update policies and procedures in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
* Ensure policies are accessible, understood, and embedded across the organisation.
* Provide guidance and support to teams on policy interpretation and application.
People Management
* This role is responsible for the operation of the Quality Assurance Team. This includes overseeing day to day operations, ensuring delivery in line with KPIs, and people management responsibilities.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Work closely with senior leaders, operational teams, and external partners to drive governance and quality priorities.
* Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and insights to governance committees and senior leadership.
* Act as a key point of contact for regulatory bodies and accreditation agencies.

What we need you to have
Essential
* Proven experience leading governance, compliance, or legal assurance roles.
* People management experience.
* Strong understanding, and working experience, of regulatory frameworks and legal obligations relevant to the health organisations.
* Previous experience in operating a quality improvement audit programme for ISO and/or CQC focused organisations.
* Experience in supporting board-level governance and secretarial functions.
* Recognised professional qualification and membership in governance, law, quality management, or risk (e.g., ICSA, ISO, IRCA, IIA).
* Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
* Collaborative leadership style which champions quality improvement.
Desirable
* Experience in change management and organisational development.
* Familiarity with digital tools for governance and quality reporting.
* Proven experience leading quality assurance roles.
* Working experience with CQC regulated organisations which have achieved 'Outstanding' ratings.
