Site Manager Utilities (National Grid Projects) Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum Company Car Accommodation Meal Allowance We are recruiting on behalf of a leading utilities contractor operating as a Principal Contractor for National Grid. They are delivering generator replacement works on live National Grid operational sites and are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead installation activities. This is a permanent position working across utilities infrastructure projects nationwide. Each installation programme typically lasts around 3 months, after which you will move onto the next project. The role is site-based Monday to Friday, staying away from home during project delivery. Accommodation and expenses are provided. The ideal candidate will be based along or within easy access of the M1 corridor. Why This Role? You will manage all site activities including lifting operations, logistics, and subcontractor coordination while ensuring strict compliance with utilities and health & safety standards. The successful candidate will operate as the Competent Person (CP) on site, ensuring safe systems of work are implemented and maintained across all activities. Key Responsibilities Manage the removal of existing containerised generators and installation of new standby power units Coordinate cranage, logistics, and installation teams Act as the Competent Person (CP) responsible for implementing and maintaining safe systems of work Ensure works comply with National Grid procedures, HSE regulations, and company standards Lead site teams and subcontractors on live operational sites Deliver toolbox talks, site briefings, and safety inspections Liaise with project managers, engineers, and client representatives Monitor programme progress and ensure works are delivered safely and on schedule Maintain site documentation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle Requirements SMSTS Essential NEBOSH Preferred (training can be provided) Competent Person (CP) status or experience acting as CP on utilities / infrastructure projects Proven experience as a Site Manager within utilities, energy, or infrastructure projects Experience managing lifting operations and heavy equipment installation Strong understanding of health & safety management on live operational sites Ideally based along the M1 corridor Ideal Background Candidates may come from sectors such as: Utilities infrastructure Power generation or standby power installation Substation or transmission projects Industrial mechanical or electrical installation Heavy plant or generator installation Package & Benefits Salary: £45,000 per annum Company Car 25 Days Annual Leave Private Health Insurance Death in Service Benefit: 2 annual salary Company Phone & Laptop Company Sick Pay Accommodation Provided (Premier Inn or Airbnb) Meal Allowance Provided Working Pattern Permanent position Projects typically around 3 months per site Monday to Friday, 08:00 16:00, staying away from home during project delivery Working across National Grid operational sites If you are interested in this opportunity the please apply and we will be in touch!
