HR & Business Operations Officer
Location: Bradford (Hybrid working available)
Rate: £20-£23 per hour (inside IR35)
Contract: 3-month initial
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to join a large, complex public sector organisation as an HR & Business Operations Officer. This role plays a key part in supporting the delivery of a high-quality HR service across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, organisational policy, and best practice.
The postholder will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing operational support on a range of people-related matters including attendance, capability, performance, employee relations, recruitment, and workforce change.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide professional HR advice and operational support across the employee lifecycle.
* Ensure all advice and guidance aligns with employment law, local policy, and national frameworks.
* Support the development and delivery of HR and OD strategies, policies, and procedures.
* Contribute to service improvement initiatives and policy development.
* Support workforce change programmes, including restructures, redeployment, redundancy, and TUPE.
* Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
* Support recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to ensure a quality candidate experience.
* Provide advice and support to colleagues on HR processes, systems, and compliance.
About You
You will be an experienced HR generalist with a strong understanding of employee relations and HR operations. You’ll be confident in advising managers, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to service development in a large, fast-paced organisation.
Essential skills and experience:
* Proven experience in a generalist HR role covering the full employee lifecycle.
* Sound knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
* Experience supporting organisational change and workforce planning.
* Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
* CIPD qualification (or equivalent professional experience).
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
