Location: Hybrid (office‑based with homeworking available, Leatherhead, Surrey, UK)
Hours: Full‑time, 37.5 hrs per week

NEC Telecom MODUS Ltd. (NECTML) is part of the NEC group of companies, and a UK based subsidiary of NEC. NECTML’s core focus is in the areas of Technology Research, Standardisation and Product Development /Testing function in the Radio Access Network (RAN) area of cellular networks or similar areas of telecommunications. NECTML’s output is Technology which is incorporated into NEC’s product portfolio.
NECTML has been developing mobile wireless technology for over 20 years and its output is at the heart of many operators' networks in Japan and around the world. Some of NECTML staff members represent NEC on international standards bodies and industry forums helping drive the development of the wireless telecommunications standards for future technologies and creating patents. The Opportunity
We are seeking a Telecoms Engineering Compliance & Quality Manager to join our Senior Management Team. This is a pivotal role overseeing all compliance and quality activities across the company, ensuring we meet NEC internal standards and UK regulatory requirements.
You will need to combine your experience of compliance and quality management with an understanding of the engineering processes used for the key Technology deliverables of NECTML,
You’ll advise senior colleagues, motivate teams to follow best practice, and manage relationships with external advisors. This is a broad, influential role with visibility across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead compliance activities across Health & Safety, Information Security, Quality Management, Export Controls, Risk, Legal/Personal Data Protection, and Business Continuity.
2. Advise the Senior Management Team on compliance issues and best practice.
3. Ensure monitoring, auditing, and record‑keeping of compliance activities.
4. Work with the Office Manager on Health & Safety and training programmes.
5. Manage external advisors and oversee compliance budgets.
About You
6. Experience in compliance management in a Technology development company or similar. This experience will ideally include areas such as anti‑bribery, data protection, export controls, information security, health & safety and quality systems (ISO9001).
7. Sufficient background in engineering & science to be able to understand NECTML Technology development processes and deliverables and understand how to apply compliance to the processes in a way that enhances efficiency whilst ensuring compliance.
8. Previous experience working within a similar industry (technology, telecoms, or R&D) is essential giving knowledge of the engineering development process.
9. Strong communication and people skills to influence and motivate colleagues.
10. Excellent literacy and numeracy, with the ability to draft clear policies and analyse budgets.
11. Knowledge of risk management, business continuity, and general business legal matters is desirable.
