Handyman / Labourer Job Description Link Contracting are a fast growing maintenance and construction provider working for local authority, educational, retail and private sector clients.
We are looking to recruit a Handyman /Labourer. Ideally someone that has basic knowledge and ability in various trades i.e. basic Plumbing, Joinery, bricklaying ground works etc. You will be responsible for liaising directly with clients and their employees, working throughout northwest region working on reactive maintenance and planned work tasks. Candidates should have good social skills, have an attention to detail and fantastic customer service ability. In addition candidates would be expected to have the following:
Role and Responsibilities of a Link Technician
* Carrying out emergency & routine reactive works and Planned work whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer service and company standards
* Basic all-round knowledge of building tasks such as, Joinery, Plumbing, brickworks, groundworks, wall tiling, plastering. Painting etc
* Delivering and collecting parts to location in the northwest & midlands area
* Act as a Second person to a tradesman on 2 person tasks
* Working on all different types of Property, commercial & retail, properties
* Correct use of PDA to enable real time information to our clients
* To be prepared to work together to hit the clients goals, help out other trades when required and have a can do, enthusiastic, first time fix attitude.
* To understand, complete all work-related documentation accurately on time and to exceed the customer’s expectations.
* Ensuring all jobs are completed in line with H&S policy and guidelines
* To attend, fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required
* Must be able to work on own initiative and be competent at completing paperwork accurately.
* To carry out additional duties as required and deemed to be a necessity of the business

Person Specification / Requirements
* Basic knowledge, building maintenance, (joinery, plumbing, bricklaying, plastering)
* Be able to work at height
* Own Basic building maintenance tools
* Have a good understanding of working in occupied premises
* A good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
* The ability to communicate at all levels both oral and written
* IT literate / be able to use a PDA
* A customer focused approach
* Full driving licence (with 6 points or less) and be prepared to travel.
* Have a Flexible working hours attitude as occasionally may be required to start work early, or work out of normal hours, i.e. night work, weekend working.
* Must be able to work on own initiative and be competent at completing paperwork accurately.
