Job Overview
As an Academic Developer, you will champion and elevate the quality of learning, teaching, and assessment across UEL. The role is hybrid, with two days on campus per week required. You will work at the interface of theory and practice, collaborating with School Directors of Education and Experience and professional service teams to design, deliver and evaluate high‑impact academic development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
* Minimum 4 years of proven experience within a higher‑education academic development setting, including end‑to‑end design, delivery and evaluation of professional development activities.
* Hold Senior Fellow (SFHEA) or Principal Fellow (PFHEA) status with AdvanceHE to support and evaluate colleagues’ professional recognition applications.
* Demonstrable experience in the strategic application of digital learning technologies (TEL) to enhance curriculum delivery and assessment across diverse academic settings.
* Track record of cross‑institutional collaboration to influence staff, motivate change and embed inclusive practices.
* Extensive experience designing and facilitating large‑scale workshops, training programmes or institutional events (e.g., symposia, learning lunches) for diverse professional audiences.
* Ability to contribute to or lead agile project‑based activities with rapidly shifting priorities, tight deadlines and a need to respond flexibly and proactively.
* Inspirational educator of educators, with high‑level academic credibility and interpersonal warmth, committed to the scholarship of learning and teaching.
* First degree plus a higher degree or professional teaching/coaching qualification; a doctorate is highly desirable.
* Culture‑agile, resilient, and an advocate for equity in education, designing learning experiences that cater to a diverse, multicultural student and staff body.
