Python Developer - Infrastructure - VMWare - 12 month contract - Glasgow Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Do you enjoy solving infrastructure challenges and automate virtualised platforms? Then I have the project for you!
I am looking for someone who wants to be part of a specialist engineering team leading a major transformation programme for a client in Glasgow. You'll have the chance to build and automate large-scale virtualisation platforms, working with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and related technologies to deliver reliable, scalable solutions across a global environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and implementing automation for enterprise-scale virtualisation environments.
* Developing Python-based tooling and Ansible playbooks to streamline installation, configuration, and management processes.
* Building and integrating APIs to enable on-demand infrastructure services.
* Testing, validating, and certifying new hardware and software components.
* Working with stakeholders to define requirements and design robust technical solutions.
* Delivering projects to deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on quality and security.
I am therefore keen to speak with candidates who have
* Significant experience using Python to automate infrastructure processes.
* Hands-on knowledge of Ansible and Infrastructure as Code practices.
* Solid understanding of VMware technologies, ideally VCF and/or vSphere.
* Strong grounding in networking and operating systems (Linux, TCP/IP, DNS).
* Experience with API integration and hybrid infrastructure environments.
* Familiarity with modern development practices including version control and CI/CD.
Desirable extras:
* VMware suite expertise (VCF, vSphere, vSAN) in greenfield and brownfield settings.
* Knowledge of infrastructure testing approaches.
* Experience with other scripting or programming languages (e.g. Go, PowerShell, Bash).
