Job summary
We are seeking Band 6 Junior Sisters/Charge Nurses with significant experience in paediatric critical care or HDU, and who have completed a relevant HDU course. Adult qualified nurses with critical care or paediatric experience will also be considered. The role offers a comprehensive development programme including local competencies, a preceptorship, and a clear career pathway. Future opportunities include PICU and other specialist courses.

The Variety Children's Hospital (VCH) provides a wide range of services for children and young people, including a 16-bed Children's Critical Care Centre offering high dependency and intensive care.
Working in this centre offers the chance to care for patients from various specialties, including Neurosurgery, Trauma, General medicine and surgery, Liver disease and transplantation, and Small bowel transplantation.
Main duties include supporting and developing staff through local competencies, qualifications, and training, including PICU and HDU courses, with strong educational support from Practice Development Nurses and a Clinical Facilitator.
