You are a Quality Manager (department manager) and will be the go‑to person for all quality matters within a reputable manufacturer. You will lead a team of up to 12 quality staff and carry a high degree of responsibility for quality systems, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Salary: £60,000 to £65,000 per annum plus bonus, pension, private medical, 26 days holidays + bank holidays, on‑site gym.
Hours: 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday – flexible start/finish times.
Location: Commutable from Fareham, Southampton, Portsmouth, Waterlooville, Havant, Chichester and surrounding areas.
We are recruiting for a reputable manufacturer who are looking for a Quality Manager (department manager) who is resilient, patient, committed, and wanting a genuine challenge to get their teeth into.
Responsibilities
* Act as the company’s primary quality liaison and represent the company with customers, suppliers, and external bodies professionally.
* Ensure all complaints (external, internal non‑conformances, suppliers) are effectively managed to root cause with preventative and corrective actions implemented and monitored through the TPM structure.
* Implement and drive continuous improvement activities for the site through the TPM structure, working to agreed site KPIs and developing sustainable solutions.
* Motivate and inspire personnel in quality matters, instilling a quality culture and coaching personnel for personal development and competency growth.
* Work with the Compliance Manager to uphold BRC, ISO9001, ISO14001, and FSC/PEFC standards, ensuring product quality, safety, and legality.
* Conduct traceability exercises and mock product recalls in line with company standards.
* Collaborate with the Technical team (Product & Design Manager, Design, and NPD teams) to ensure new product launches meet product quality, safety, and legality expectations and are introduced into production efficiently.
Requirements
* Experienced Quality Manager or Technical Manager – department manager seeking a challenging career move.
* Must have worked in a similar role, ideally in FMCG, Food, Dairy, Packaging, or Manufacturing.
* Leadership/management experience of a team of any size.
* Familiar with quality standards, compliance, audits and BRC – this is essential.
* Strong root cause analysis and continuous improvement experience.
* Ideally experience dealing with customer complaints and improvements.
* Resilient and approachable – a strong people manager is absolutely essential.
