Role Overview
The Site Manager will take full ownership of a designated operational site, leading a team of mechanical fitters and supervisors. Acting as the ‘Controller of Premises’, you will ensure all safety, compliance and operational obligations are met. The role combines hands‑on site leadership with line management responsibility for a team of approximately eight personnel. You will also act as the primary on‑site contact for the client and support resource planning, coordination and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the key point of contact for the designated client site
* Line manage a team of eight, including performance management, development, timesheet approval and HR matters
* Ensure compliance with company and client processes, procedures and health & safety regulations
* Maintain valid permits and authorisations (including Transfer of Controller of Premises documentation where required)
* Lead and coordinate on‑site engineering activities to deliver work safely, on time and to specification
* Manage day‑to‑day site operations and progress of works
* Supervise mechanical fitters, supervisors, subcontractors and suppliers
* Coordinate logistics, materials, site access and permit requirements
* Provide direction, instruction and technical support to site teams
* Support the Project Manager with documentation including RAMS, construction phase plans and project programmes
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Site Manager, Team Leader or Supervisor within engineering or construction environments
* Strong ability to lead, manage and motivate site teams
* Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site compliance requirements
* Excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills
* Relevant site qualifications (e.g. SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS card, First Aid)
* Experience within water, utilities or mechanical engineering projects preferred
* Full UK driving licence
* Right to work in the UK on a permanent basis
