Learning Mentor\n\nTo join a purpose built facility to help learners aged 16-25 with complex behavioural support needs reach their full potential within a nurturing, flexible and individualised learning environment. Our Learning Mentors provide crucial support to learning and teaching staff on a daily basis. It is essential in delivering a sensory-rich, emotionally supportive, and person-centred learning experience that fosters independence, well-being, and inclusivity.\n\nWhat you will be doing\n\nPurpose of the Role\n\nYour focus will be on creating a safe, nurturing, and sensory-rich environment that enables learners to thrive.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Act as a key worker for assigned learners, offering consistent support and guidance.\n\n * Provide individualised support to learners across their study programme.\n\n * Create and maintain a safe, structured, and sensory-rich learning environment.\n\n * Deliver learning activities designed by teaching staff.\n\n * Support in the preparation and organisation of learning resources.\n\n * Maintain up-to-date training relevant to the role and learner needs.\n\n * Monitoring and recording of learner progress against individual targets.\n\n * Deliver personal care and support eating and drinking.\n\n * Attend multidisciplinary meetings to contribute to holistic learner support.\n\n * Follow all College policies and procedures.\n\nDesired Outcomes:\n\n * Learners receive high-quality, individualised support that enables them to make meaningful progress in line with their Education, Health, and Care (EHC) Plan outcomes.\n\n * A positive and structured learning environment is maintained, supporting learners' engagement, independence, and personal development.\n\n * Effective collaboration with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to enhance learner experiences and outcomes.\n\n * Compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and best practice standards in SEND\n\nDimensions of the role\n\n * You will work as part of a dedicated team of teaching and support staff, contributing flexibly to meet the diverse needs of learners.\n\n * Representing the College with external parties such as families/carers, other professionals and in other workplaces and community locations.\n\nRequired Experience / Skills and Knowledge.\n\nThe following skills are essential:\n\n· Level 2 (e.g.
GCSEs, functional skills, NVQ or BTec) in any subject\n\n· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with learners,\n\nparents/carers and multidisciplinary staff teams\n\n· Strong organisational skills\n\n· Ability to maintain professional boundaries\n\n· Empathy, patience, and resilience in working with people\n\n· Level of personal fitness to meet the physical requirements of the role\n\n· Willingness to undertake continuous professional development\n\n· Flexibility to work at different (local within 6 miles) locations if required\n\n· Willing to deliver personal care\n\nDesirable (non essential) skills include\n\n· Successful experience of working with learners with complex behavioural needs, particularly those with a high frequency and severity of behaviours\n\n· Experience of contributing to multidisciplinary meetings\n\n· Experience of delivering personal care and medication\n\n· Safeguarding practice in a SEND environment.\n\n· Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and their application\n\n· Familiarity with sensory integration techniques\n\n· Maths and English Functional Skills and ICT Skills at an appropriate level [1/2] for the service\n\n· Level 3 qualification in Learning Support or Health and Social Care or equivalent [or\n\nwillingness to work towards]\n\n· Level 3 in Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI™) [or willingness to undertake learning.\n\n· Current Driving Licence\n\nWorking within a modern, purpose built environment.\n\nHours are Monday to Friday only - 37.50 hours per week.\n\n+ Other benefits
