Senior Developer Glasgow As a Barclays Senior Developer, you will lead the product build of big data open source technologies, supporting the Enterprise Data Platform strategy. Planning, building, and deploying releases of software, which reliably enhance the service offering will be part of your role. What will you be doing? • Developing and maintaining a product roadmap, along with an investment plan. Ensure that key stakeholders have buy in and support the plan • Planning and building of product releases using an agile approach along with other team members • Analysing requirements to ensure the most appropriate technical solution • Executing and maintaining functional testing software as well as the performance testing software • Ensuring that software vulnerabilities are actively managed, and compensating controls are put in where software changes are not feasible • Being responsible for training and mentoring junior team members • Taking responsibility for contributing back to the Open Source community What we’re looking for: • Advanced proficiency in Java application development • Profound command of Java emphasizing the development and maintenance of high-quality, scalable code • In-depth comprehension of big data technologies, distributed computing, and data processing frameworks • Demonstrable hands-on experience with relevant tools such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and other industry-standard platforms Skills that will help you in the role: • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, focusing on innovative and efficient solutions • Demonstrable experience in optimizing and fine-tuning big data applications for heightened performance and efficiency • External technology contributions (Noteworthy Open Source attributions) Where will you be working?
