About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, balanced meals in a safe and hygienic environment. You will ensure compliance with food hygiene standards, support special dietary requirements, and contribute to the overall wellbeing of our service users.
This role requires creativity in menu planning, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and prepare balanced, nutritious menus using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
* Cook meals daily and supervise serving where appropriate.
* Cater for special diets and take into account individual service users' preferences.
* Ensure all food is correctly labelled, stored, and dated.
* Maintain kitchen hygiene, including cleaning worktops, utensils, equipment, and dining areas.
* Order and maintain stock of food and cleaning supplies in consultation with the Manager.
* Complete daily and weekly kitchen checklists (opening/closing checks).
* Follow HACCP guidelines, food hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
* Dispose of food waste in line with policies and legal requirements.
* Report any breakages, damages, or hazards promptly to senior staff.
* Attend training sessions and maintain compliance with mandatory training.
* Supervise and support junior staff when required.
* Participate in staff meetings and contribute to continuous improvement.
Standard Requirements
* Emergency Response: Assist in evacuation and respond appropriately in fire drills, alarms, or emergency situations.
* Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding service users and staff, in line with data protection legislation.

What We're Looking For
* Experience in cooking for groups, ideally within a care, hospitality, or catering environment.
* Knowledge of food hygiene standards and HACCP guidelines.
* Ability to plan menus and cater for a variety of dietary needs.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Team player with good communication skills.

Pay: £14.50-£16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 37.50 per week
