Site Manager Civil Engineering & Coastal Infrastructure Weston-super-Mare Permanent Leading Regional Contractor A long-established civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation across the South Coast is looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager for a major project in Weston-super-Mare. Known for delivering complex coastal, marine, flood defence and infrastructure schemes, this contractor prides itself on technical excellence, collaborative working and long-term client relationships. The Role As Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for day-to-day site delivery, ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. Your responsibilities will include: Health, Safety & Environment Maintain a safe, clean and compliant site environment. Ensure full adherence to HSE legislation, site rules and PPE requirements. Develop and update H&S, Environmental and Quality Plans, including Waste Management, Carbon Calculator and Materials Management Plans. Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing training. Conduct weekly HSE inspections and produce RAMS and method statements. Manage incident reporting, site security, waste management and environmental compliance. Site Operations & Planning Set up and maintain an organised, well-run site. Review drawings, specifications and long-lead materials; raise requisitions and returns. Assess labour requirements and coordinate plant, materials and subcontractors. Maintain accurate timesheets, sickness records, RTW interviews and holiday approvals. Produce ITPs, temporary works briefs and internal snagging lists. Coordinate client inspections and manage handover documentation. Maintain all site records and contribute to project close-out reports. Commercial & Programme Management Support interim valuations, final accounts and dayworks. Identify and communicate variations to the QS; update commercial forecasts. Review subcontract enquiries, comparisons and attend appraisal interviews. Review subcontractor RAMS, including temporary works. Manage contractual paperwork (PMIs, CTQs, Early Warnings, CEs). Update the contract programme weekly with the planner, integrating subcontractor activities and highlighting delays. Issue four-weekly lookahead programmes to the site team. Stakeholder & Community Engagement Liaise with residents, landowners and stakeholders regarding access and working methods. Coordinate with utility providers on diversions and service interfaces. Leadership & People Management Lead, motivate and develop the site team. Promote a culture of openness, collaboration and continuous improvement. Monitor performance standards and address issues promptly. Manage rewards, recognition, grievances and disciplinary matters. What Youll Bring Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering, coastal, marine or infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of HSE legislation and best practice. Ability to manage subcontractors, programme, commercial interfaces and client relationships. Confident communicator with strong leadership skills.
