At GSL Education, we are supporting a Special Needs school in Plymouth that is seeking a SEN Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis with the potential to go permanent.
The school provides education to children across KS1-2 who cannot function in a mainstream setting and may have been excluded from their previous schools.
Each child receives a high level of support, often including one-to-one assistance and bespoke timetables based on thematic learning experiences. A wide range of personalised learning activities are designed to engage students, build resilience, and lay the foundation for rapid academic progress.
All children have SEMH and behavioural needs and may also have additional needs such as ADHD and Autism.
Responsibilities:
* Guide students as a Learning Mentor, providing personalised guidance and support.
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop comprehensive support plans.
* Create a nurturing environment that promotes social interactions and communication skills.
* Assist with daily tasks, academic activities, and implement interventions to address behaviour challenges and promote positive outcomes.
Requirements:
* Willing to use a car for business purposes and have valid business insurance.
* Available to start ASAP on a full-time basis.
* Effective communication skills.
* Patience, empathy, flexibility, and adaptability.
* Dedication to student success.
