The Role
We are seeking an experienced Internal Recruiter to join our team. You will be responsible for sourcing, screening, and placing candidates for a variety of construction roles, including skilled tradespeople and professional staff such as site managers and engineers. This is a fast-paced role requiring a thorough understanding of the construction industry and its recruitment requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Source and attract candidates for blue-collar roles (e.g., carpenters, electricians, labourers) and white-collar roles (e.g., site managers, quantity surveyors, M&E engineers).
* Review CVs, conduct interviews, and assess candidates based on their qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.
* Manage the full recruitment process, from creating job postings to negotiating offers.
* Build strong relationships with hiring managers to understand the specific requirements of each project.
* Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), freelance/self-employment rules, and CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) requirements.
* Verify candidates' qualifications (e.g., NVQs, HNC/HND, SMSTS, SSSTS, or trade-specific certifications) and right-to-work documentation.
* Utilise job boards, social media, and industry networks to develop a robust candidate pipeline.
* Conduct occasional site visits to meet clients and gain insight into project needs.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in our applicant tracking system (ATS).
About You
* Proven experience as a recruiter within the construction sector.
* Strong understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), freelance, and self-employment regulations in the UK.
* Knowledge of CSCS cards and their importance for site safety and compliance.
* Familiarity with construction-related qualifications, such as NVQs, HNC/HND, SMSTS, SSSTS, or trade-specific certifications.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with candidates and clients.
* Ability to work independently from home with strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits (a valid UK driving licence is preferred).
* Proficiency in recruitment platforms, applicant tracking systems, and Microsoft Office.
* A proactive and results-oriented approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality recruitment outcomes.
